FAIRFIELD, Conn. (April 14, 2015) 鈥 The 天美传媒视频无限制观看 Glee Club will present 鈥淕lee Goes Rock 鈥橬 Roll: 鈥50s 鈥60s 鈥70s,鈥 featuring the music of Queen, Carole King, Otis Redding and more, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at the University鈥檚 Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. The concert will feature performances by the full Glee Club, conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians, the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony, The Pops Band and The Glee Band. General admission tickets are $10, $6 for students.
The Glee Club will open the evening with Queen鈥檚 anthem 鈥淲e Will Rock You,鈥 a stirring start to a program featuring Redding鈥檚 鈥淩espect,鈥 The Rolling Stones鈥 鈥淪tart Me Up鈥 and Michael Jackson鈥檚 鈥淏lame It on the Boogie.鈥 Other selections include Stevie Nicks鈥 鈥淓dge of Seventeen,鈥 Paul Simon鈥檚 鈥淏ridge Over Troubled Water鈥 and Aerosmith鈥檚 鈥淒ream On.鈥
The 天美传媒视频无限制观看 Glee Club, founded in 1947, is the oldest club on the 天美传媒视频无限制观看 campus. The members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The Glee Club numbers over 130 undergraduate and graduate singers. It is the parent organization of two additional choral ensembles: Sweet Harmony and The Bensonians. The 天美传媒视频无限制观看 Chamber Singers is the first mixed choir on campus. Founded in 1982 by Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Orin Grossman, it is an ensemble of auditioned singers, whose advanced repertoire, both sacred and secular, have led to a wide acclaim in the area.
