Award-winning jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn comes to the Quick Center February 13
Jazzmeia Horn, winner of the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, will perform at 天美传媒视频无限制观看鈥檚 Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Friday, February 13 for two shows at 7 and 9 p.m.

At the young age of 23, Jazzmeia 鈥淛azz鈥 Horn, hailing from Dallas, Texas, has already earned a reputation in New York City as a dynamic musician. Horn has a name that speaks for itself, capturing her very essence. She is a passionate vocalist and she continues to receive accolades from top critics and musicians alike. Her soulful sound, understanding of the jazz idiom and storytelling has earned her comparisons to classic vocalists, such as Betty Carter, Sarah Vaughan, and Nancy Wilson.
鈥淛azzmeia Horn is one of the greatest vocalists I鈥檝e heard in 40 years,鈥 said legendary American jazz lyricist and singer聽Jon Hendricks.
With the ambition to pursue a solo career, Horn moved to New York City in 2009 to study at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Shortly after, she had her first live radio appearance with Junior Mance at WBGO Radio Station in Newark, N.J. Soon she was appearing with her quartet in several legendary jazz clubs, including The Apollo, The Red Rooster,聽The Metropolitan Room, The Blue Note, Dizzy鈥檚 Jazz Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, Bill鈥檚 Place, The Kitano, The Lenox Lounge, Minton鈥檚 Playhouse and The Jazz Standard. Horn has shared the stage with musicians such as, Billy Harper, Junior Mance, Winard Harper, Vincent Gardner, Lafayette Harris, Delfeayo Marsalis, Mike LeDonne, Peter Bernstein, Vincent Herring and Johnny O鈥橬eal, as well as NEA Jazz Masters Frank Wess and Ellis Marsalis.
In 2012,聽Horn won the 鈥淩ising Star Award鈥 at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. The following year, she won the entire competition. Horn was selected for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and received her degree from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
Horn鈥檚 2014 international touring schedule included London, France, South Africa, Moscow and Austria. She resides in Harlem, New York and is working on her latest unreleased album.
