Master choreographer and dancer, David Dorfman, has a powerful mission: He wants "to get the whole world dancing." His dance company David Dorfman Dance has been doing exactly that since its start in 1987. David Dorfman Dance has performed extensively throughout North and South America, Great Britain, Europe, and in many of New York City鈥檚 major venues including The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Joyce Theater, The Kitchen, Danspace Project/St. Mark鈥檚 Church, La MaMa Theater, The Duke on 42nd Street, and the 92 nd St. "Y"/Harkness Dance Festival. David Dorfman Dance strives to examine and unearth issues and ideas that enliven, incite, and excite audiences in dialogue and debate about social change and other topics. David Dorfman, his dancers, and artistic collaborators have received eight New York Dance and Performance ( Bessie ) Awards.

Come, and Back Again , David Dorfman Dance's newest work, is an evening length elegiac exploration of the virtuosity of daily life, vulnerability, mortality, beauty and love and resilience. Driven by the charged poetry and unapologetic, raw ferocity of indie, punk and folk rock music, five dancers and five musicians embark on a kinetic anthem of reckless personal abandon - taking on time, and how memory influences and manages our slippery, elastic existence. Despite the seriousness of the inquiry, Dorfman鈥檚 signature humor and unbridled joy of movement are integral to 聽the piece.

In addition to the performance, David Dorfman Dance will be in residence a few days in advance offering workshops, masterclasses and open rehearsals with members of the Fairfield community as part of the Quick Center鈥檚 newly formed Arts Education and Outreach Fund.
