FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 22, 2017) 鈥 Adele Myers and Dancers will share their newest heart-pounding and exhilarating work The Dancing Room in the Quick Center for the Arts鈥 Wien Experimental Theatre. The dance company will perform from March 7 through March 9 with two performances per night, beginning at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Made up of four female 鈥渁thletes of the heart,鈥 Adele Myers and Dancers will debut an evening-length multi-disciplinary performance featuring interactive media artist John Slepian, ongoing collaborator and composer Josh Quillen (of S艒 Percussion), and visual and lighting direction by Kathy Couch. Performed in the round, The Dancing Room is a work of illumination and accumulation.

A curator of chemistry between people, Adele Myers鈥 approach to dance making is collaborative and often infused with visual art. Witty and honest, the Company is known for its referential themes against a backdrop of bold abstract choreographic design.

The Dancing Room is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation Fund Project co-commissioned by the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in partnership with The Yard and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. In addition to co-commissioning the piece, the Quick Center worked with the company to provide educational workshops with students from the Cesar Batalla School in Bridgeport and the Regional Center for the Arts in Trumbull, with support from the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

鈥淲e are fortunate to be able to work so closely with an artist in both the creation of a piece and in bringing art into the community. It鈥檚 a wonderful partnership. The opportunity to bring students from Bridgeport together with professional artists is always a privilege for us, and it is an initiative central to our mission,鈥 said Peter Van Heerden, executive director of the Quick Center.

Inspired to form her own dance company during her time at Florida State University, Myers received her MFA in Dance from the university and went on to become an assistant professor of dance at Tulane University from 2000 to 2002. By 2005, Myers earned an MA and PhD in performance studies from New York University, spurring a teaching career as an assistant professor in the dance department at Connecticut College. In 2015, she served as a guest artist in the Wesleyan University Dance Department and is now teaching at New World School of the Arts in Miami.
