How to Apply

Applicants for graduate programs in the School of Engineering and Computing must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) in engineering or its equivalent. Those with work experience in a relevant industry, whose academic and professional record suggest the likelihood of success in a demanding graduate program, will also be considered.

Applications to all programs are accepted on a rolling basis.

Students seeking admission must complete the following and submit:

  • A completed application (). 
  • A non-refundable $65 application fee.
  • A professional resume. Applicants are required to submit a current resume that includes employment and education history. 
  • A personal statement (prompt varies by program) of self-evaluation of work experience and career objectives.
  • Official transcripts from all universities or colleges attended. (All international transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluating service).
  • Recommendation forms and letters from professional references. The recommendations are completed online. At the time of application, you will need to provide your two recommenders' names and email addresses. Recommendation requirements and amount vary by program.
  • Interviews: If required, candidates will be notified after application completion.
  • Official test scores: Scores may be required on a program-specific basis.

Program-Specific Requirements

In addition to the application procedures listed above, applicants must have coursework or demonstrated aptitude in the following subject matters. Candidates who are missing a prerequisite course are welcome to apply and may be required to register for bridge courses as part of their program of study. Please review these program-specific guidelines:

Applicants to the MS in Biomedical Engineering must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent). A grade point average of 3.0 or better is preferred.

The MS in Cybersecurity program is designed for students and professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent). A grade point average of 3.0 or better is preferred.

Applicants to the MS in Data Science program must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent). Students may enter the Data Science master's program from any background. Some come from engineering and computing. Others come from specific domain backgrounds like biology, healthcare, behavioral sciences, or business. Admitted students may need to take up to six (6) credits of bridge course work to prepare for the program, depending on their background.

Applicants for the MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) in science or engineering or its equivalent. Those with work experience in a technology environment, whose academic and professional record suggest the likelihood of success in a demanding graduate program will also be considered. Applicants should demonstrate aptitude in the following, or begin their studies by registering for one or more of these bridge courses as judged suitable by the program directors:

  • Electric circuits
  • Electronic circuits and devices

Applicants for the MS in Management of Technology must hold a degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) in science or engineering, or its equivalent in the general area of technology and engineering. Those with extensive work experience in a technology environment, whose academic and professional record suggest the likelihood of success in a demanding graduate program, will also be considered. Prerequisite coursework or demonstrated aptitude in the following subjects is required:

  • Introductory probability and statistics
  • Computer programming that uses a high-level language and includes applications.
  • Financial accounting

Applicants who had no courses in these areas and who are unable to demonstrate aptitude in these subjects must augment their studies by taking these courses at the undergraduate level, as soon as possible.

Applicants for the MS in Mechanical Engineering must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) in science or engineering, or its equivalent, in the general area of mechanical engineering. Those with work experience in a technology environment, whose academic and professional record suggest the likelihood of success in a demanding graduate program will also be considered. Applicants should demonstrate aptitude in the following subject matters, or begin their studies by registering for one or more bridge courses judged suitable by the program director.

  • Engineering Design
  • Materials and Thermodynamics

Applicants for the MS in Software Engineering must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent) and demonstrate adequate experience as a professional software developer or programmer, whose academic and professional record suggest the likelihood of success in a demanding graduate program. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in an area other than software engineering, computer science, or the equivalent, may need to take bridge courses to develop the required background for the program.
