Special Message and Important Updates from the Vice President for Fairfield Athletics

Dear Friends of Fairfield Athletics –

Happy New Year from the Stags Athletics Family! As we look ahead to 2024 – our Head Coaches, Staff, and Student-Athletes would like to thank you for your exceptional support this past year. We appreciate your engagement in so many ways: philanthropic participation, attending events, purchasing tickets, and promoting ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ in your communities. Your generosity has a significant impact on our student-athletes and our objective to provide them with a holistic experience and the resources necessary for championship success.

Having hit the halfway point of the 2023-24, I would like to also look back and share highlights from last academic year. Please take a moment to review our and celebrate the successes we experienced in the classroom, community and field of competition.

In case you missed it – here is just a handful of highlights we experienced last semester:

Team Success
• Volleyball won the MAAC Championship (13th conference title, the Stags won the MAAC Regular Season Title for the 22nd time.
• Field Hockey won their 3rd Northeast Conference (NEC) Regular Season Title.
• Women’s Soccer program posted a 7-2-1 conference record, their 26th winning conference mark in program history.
• Men’s Golf had two top three finishes and Women’s Golf had two top three finishes and won the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
• Men’s Rowing took the top spot in the varsity 8, the second varsity 8, the third varsity 8, varsity 4 and novice 4 at the NYRA Fall Invitational.
• Women’s Rowing headed to the New York Rowing Association (NYRA) Fall Invitational with our second varsity 4 securing first place in its heat and finishing in first place in the A final. The varsity 4 A boat took the top spot in its heat and rallied to a third-place finish in the A final.

Individual Accolades
• Fall All-America: 1
• Fall All-Region: 6
• Fall Conference Player of the Year: 4
• Fall Conference Rookie of the Year: 1
• Fall All-Conference Selections: 19
• Fall Conference Tournament MVP: 1

Winter YTD
• Men’s and Women’s ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ÊÓƵÎÞÏÞÖƹۿ´ and Diving was a combined 7-1 to open the 2023-24 season.
• Women’s Basketball got off to their best start in 40 years with a 12-1 record.
• Men’s Basketball is on an 8-game win streak beating pre-season conference favorites Rider, Yale, and Sacred Heart on the road.
• Fairfield Athletics celebrated on December 10th as we welcomed back former female student-athletes and coaches during the WBB game vs Fordham. 

As of January, Fairfield Athletics and our Hall of Fame Selection Committee . Join us on January 27th as we celebrate these inductees at our WBB game vs Canisius and reception/dinner at Mahoney Arena. .

In closing – Thank you again for giving back in 2023 and through our annual Giving Tuesday (National Day of Giving) event in November. We saw record-setting participation from our Friends of Fairfield Athletics with 258 donors and $261,176 raised to support our Athletics Built for Life Fund and our Sport Specific Gift Funds (an increase of 21% in donor participation). We are so very fortunate to have your passionate support! If you have not made a gift to support Fairfield Athletics – please consider our student-athletes and coaches.
