Fairfield will be the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Tournament.
With Saturday’s 95-65 win over Niagara at Leo D. Mahoney Arena, Fairfield Women’s Basketball laid claim to the 2024 MAAC Regular Season Championship. Winners of 23 consecutive games, the Stags will be the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship Tournament in Atlantic City.
"This is the first goal down," Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis said. "Regular season championships are hard because you have to be good every night. You can show up and play your best basketball in the conference tournament and still win a championship, but the regular season championship takes day in and day out consistency. I'm so proud of how this team shows up every day for each other and plays together. I'm really proud of this group."
The Stags are 25-1 overall and 17-0 in the MAAC this season. Their 23-game winning streak trails only unbeaten and #1 nationally ranked South Carolina (27-0) as the second-longest active winning streak in the nation. The MAAC Regular Season Championship is the fifth in program history for the Stags, and the second in the last three seasons.
Fairfield has one final 2023-24 season home game on the docket, set for Saturday, March 9, when the team will celebrate Senior Day prior to a 2 p.m. visit from Rider. Tickets are on sale now at .
The Stags will begin the 2024 MAAC Championship in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, March 13 at 1 p.m. More information regarding the postseason will be announced as it becomes finalized by the conference office.
